Spotlight Sponsors VAS Ltd Art and Craft State Final Competitions

Spotlight have kindly agreed to sponsor the Sewing, Knitting, Embroidery and Patchwork State Finals for 2006 and 2007. They will be in the form of vouchers with a total value of $2,000.00 per year, split up as follows:
· 1st $300.00
· 2nd $150.00
· 3rd $50.00
per competition

Can all show secretaries please ensure logos are placed in all schedules and where possible, signage in their art and craft pavilions.If you would like logos emailed please contact the office.

Article of Hand Embroidery Competition
Regulations
1. An article of hand embroidery, any type (excluding cross stitch).

2. An exhibitor may represent only one Society at Group level and one Group at State level.

3. An article having won at a Show will compete at a Group Final; the winning article will then compete at the next Royal Melbourne Show.

4. The Melbourne Group 14 winner of the current Show will compete as a finalist in the following State Final at the Royal Show.

5. An article having won a State Final, is no longer eligible to compete in the competition.

6. Each article entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor.

7. If for any reason a winner is unable to compete at Group or State Final levels, the second placegetter is eligible to compete.

8. A person will not be permitted to win at more than one Show within the State in any one Show year. Persons not adhering to this rule will be required to forfeit/refund prize money.

9. All work to have been completed within the last twelve (12) months.

It is recommended that these rules be printed in the schedules under the appropriate classes.

Following the Group Final, it is the responsibility of each Group Secretary to advise the VAS Ltd Secretariat of:-
· The name and address of the Group winner.
· The Country Agricultural Society they represent.

VAS Ltd will then pass this information on to the RAS Limited, who in turn contact each Group Finalist, sending them an entry form to enable the articles to be entered in the State Final at the Royal Melbourne Show.

Knitting Competition
Hand knitted jumper or cardigan made from Pure Wool/Wool Blend of any ply.

Regulations
1. Each garment must be made from Pure Wool/Wool Blend of any ply and must have attached label from wool used or label or receipt from Woollen Mill.

2. An exhibitor may represent only one Society at Group level and one Group at State level.

3. An garment having won at a Show will compete at a Group Final; the winning article will then compete at the next Royal Melbourne Show.

4. The Melbourne Group 14 winner of the current Show will compete as a finalist in the following State Final at the Royal Melbourne Show.

Patchwork Competition
Following are the regulations which apply to this competition:-

1. A piece of patchwork, no more than 1 metre on any side, machine pieced and machine quilted, only finished articles will be accepted.

2. An exhibitor may represent only one Society at Group level and one Group at State level.

3. An article having won at a Show will compete at a Group Final; the winning article will then compete at the next Royal Melbourne Show.

4. The Melbourne Group 14 winner of the current Show will compete as a finalist in the following State Final at the Royal Show.

5. An article having won a State Final, is no longer eligible to compete in the competition.

6. Each article entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor.

SPOTLIGHT STATE SEWING COMPETITION
This competition is generously sponsored by Spotlight. The Spotlight State Sewing Competition will commence from the October 2004 shows.

Spotlight State Sewing Competition
Competition to be conducted at Society, Group and State level.
Class ? The garment/outfit to be made by the exhibitor. Garment/outfit of wearing apparel (maximum 3 pieces). Sewn by machine. May be hand finished. Accessories such as scarves, stoles, shawls, gloves etc are not acceptable. Knitted/Crocheted items not acceptable.

The above wording to appear in your Schedule.

Regulations:

  1. To be constructed in fabric, using natural fibre or fibre-blend. The garment to be made by the exhibitor.
  2. An exhibitor may represent only one Society at Group level and one Group at State level. An exhibit may only win one Group Final in a show season, should the same article be entered again and found to have already won a Group Final in the same show season the exhibitor must return the prize money and will be disqualified from exhibiting for 12 months.
  3. A garment having won at a Show will compete at a Group Final. The winning garment will then compete in the State Final at the next Royal Melbourne Show.
  4. A Garment having won at State Final, is no longer eligible to compete in the competition.
  5. Each garment entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor.
