OPEN PHOTOGRAPHY AND JUNIOR PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITIONS

 

There are two separate photography competitions:


 

Junior Competition

At the Craft & Catering Committee meeting held on Thursday 28th July it was agreed that there would be a new competition introduced for the 2011/2012 show season. The competition will culminate in a State Final at the 2012 Royal Melbourne Show.

The competition will be VAS Ltd Junior Photography Competition with rules and regulations set out below.
  • Competitors to be 18 years and under on the day of their local show.
  • Photograph unframed, not larger than 20 X 30cms, may be mounted, mount no larger than 3cms, black and white or colour.
  • Subject: “Photo taken at an Agricultural Show”.
  • Professional photographers not eligible.

 

Open Competition

PRIZES
(Major Sponsors yet to be confirmed, prizes will be determined before State Final)
State Final First Prize $70 donated by R&R Johnson and trophy donated by VASL

Second Prize

$20 donated by R&R Johnson
Third Prize $10 donated by R&R Johnson

 

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

This competition is generously sponsored by Spotlight.
Regulations  
1.

Unframed, not larger than 20 x 30cms, must be mounted (mount no larger than 3cms), black and white or colour. Subject: “Photo taken at an Agricultural Show”.

Professional photographers not eligible

2. An exhibitor may represent only one Society at Group level and one Group at State level.
3. A photograph having won at a Show will compete at a Group Final; the winning photograph will then compete at the next Royal Melbourne Show.
4. A photograph having won a State Final, is no longer eligible to compete in the competition.
5. Each photograph entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor.
6. If for any reason a winner is unable to compete at Group or State Final levels, the second placegetter is eligible to compete.
7. A person will not be permitted to win at more than one Show within the State in any one Show year. Persons not adhering to this rule will be required to forfeit/refund prize money.
8.

All work to have been completed within the last twelve (12) months

It is recommended that these rules be printed in the schedules under the appropriate classes.

Following the Group Final, it is the responsibility of each Group Secretary to advise the VAS Ltd Secretariat of:

  • The name and address of the Group winner.
  • The Agricultural Society they represent.

VAS Ltd will then pass this information on to the RAS Limited, who in turn contact each Group Finalist, sending them an entry form to enable the articles to be entered in the State Final at the Royal Melbourne Show.
