2023 Dairy Cattle Parading & Judging State Final Results

On Sunday the 15th January at International Dairy Week, Tatura the VAS Ltd Dairy Cattle Parading & Judging State Final was held. Both Anna & Angus will now represent Victoria at the National Finals in Tasmania October 2023. We wish them both the best of luck in the National Final later in the year.

2023 Saddle Horse Championships Done & Dusted

The Championships is over for another year but before we get to the acknowledgements - Finals that were scored will be available on the website by Friday once we collate them all up and get them onto the website.

Firstly thank you to all the exhibitors who competed across the two days! It was great to see so many new exhibitors and previous exhibitors return to the championships! This event is all about supporting the agricultural shows in Victoria by getting qualified at those events and then competing at the championships. Thank you for supporting the Victorian Agricultural Show Movement!

Thank you to our judges, stewards, volunteers & committee for your dedication and time you have given to the championships across the weekend but also to those in the lead up to the championships as well!

To the sponsors that came on board again and to the many new sponsors - thank you for contributing to the championships and your support is very much appreciated. Throughout the coming week each sponsor will be recognised on this page and will be thanked for your support.

Wishing all Show Societies, Volunteers & Show Enthusiasts a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

The courage shown this year by Show Societies has been unbelievable again in dealing with the effects of COVID-19 and then mother nature with cancellation of many shows due to flooding.

As we said this time last year hope 2022 will be better well let’s hope 2023 is the year it will return to normality for our Victorian Agricultural Shows.

The office will be busy organising the Saddle Horse Championships throughout the festive period with the Championships to be held on the 7th & 8th January 2023 but will return to normal from the 10th January 2023.

  • Entries will be online via Event Secretary, which will open soon - Date to be confirmed!

  • Qualifications have been adjusted to reflect the cancellations across the year so please read carefully the qualification requirements. If you still require a qualification the following upcoming shows are still qualifiers for the Championships: Balnarring, Whittlesea & Kingston.

  • New additions to the Championships include Rising Star Classes split for Open & Show Hunters & more Debutante Classes.

  • A final list of judges will be posted once they are confirmed.

VAS Ltd Dog High Jump State Final

Next weekend at the Ballarat Show the Dog High Jump State Final will be held on 13th November 2022 at 1pm & registrations are from 10am onwards.

Due to cancellation of Shows to enter the State Final please nominate your local Show on the day of the State Final and you will be accepted to enter the State Final.

Please tag anyone that might be interested in competing in the State Final.

Agricultural & Pastoral Society Grants - Closing Date Extended

Closing date extended until Midnight 28th October 2023.

Grants of up to $10,000 per eligible society are available for eligible projects. Projects that will be considered may include initiatives that:

  • promote agricultural production

  • provide new or upgraded facilities for the exhibition and/or judging of commercial and stud animals

  • improve facilities for exhibitions, competitions and displays, such as upgrading fencing and stables, or areas used for shearing demonstrations and wool exhibits

  • stimulate local employment, suppliers and producers

  • create opportunities for displaying art and craft, and artisan produce

  • enhance public amenities at showgrounds such as toilets, seating and disabled access

  • improve essential infrastructure for electricity and water supply

  • enhance business management, planning for shows and marketing strategies targeting the broader community

  • promote reporting of livestock movements to the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) database such as the purchase of scanning wands

  • enhance biosecurity planning such as a written biosecurity plan, signage or improved facilities to create separate housing of different species of animals for biosecurity purposes

  • innovative use of technology to encourage remote community participation in agricultural show activities

  • enhance public safety of community attendance, including COVID safe measures that align with current Victorian Government community event guidelines.

The speeches for the VAS Rural Ambassador Competition will be held separately to the luncheon function at 10am on Sunday 25th September 2022 at the Melbourne Royal Show (Location of Room to be confirmed).
